John is the lead graphic designer and photographer for Whiteboard-IT. Trained in classical photography and darkroom techniques, John broadened upon this classical approach through the study of computer science and the practice of many forms of medium such as design, drawing, and sculpture. As John’s industry of graphic design evolved, he adeptly merged his art into the digital realm.

A background in parallel disciplines allows John to balance his artistic eye for detail with his pragmatic broad vision. John can grow your vision or idea into a functioning work of art. Photography: John mentored under Pamela Venz at Birmingham-Southern College where he received a degree in Fine Arts while focusing on photography. John’s employment with local Birmingham photographer Howard Lee Puckett exposed him to subjects from lifestyle to interiors and from food to travel. While learning in 35mm format photography, John refined his style in composition, lighting, and processing techniques. The artistic precision of this style has created demand for John’s expertise in the posing and composition of many subjects, especially through web design.

John’s photographic studies have allowed him to travel extensively, including a month long photojournalism exploration of the nation’s capital, a 6200 mile journey across America, and visits to John’s favorite and aesthetically intriguing spots in Europe.

Design: As an artist and designer, John is able to mesh style with functionality. Any professional in the field must maintain an ongoing curriculum of the tools and principles of digital media. As such, John works with Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, HTML, CSS, and Javascript to create works of art in the form of web sites, logos, emails, newsletters, business cards, and, of course, photography.
